Zongben Xu is mainly engaged in the research of intelligent information processing, machine learning, and basic theory of data modeling. He was awarded the Second Prize of National Natural Science, the Second Prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress, the Chen Jiageng Prize in Information Technology Science, and the Su Buqing Prize in Applied Mathematics of the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM).
