AI & Innovation (AI²) is a peer-reviewed, international, open access journal dedicated to shaping a more equitable and sustainable AI-driven world. Launched as a joint publication by the Institute for Digital Economy & Artificial Systems (IDEAS), Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, and the publisher Wiley, the journal was officially inaugurated at the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC). Our core mission is to enrich the global discourse on artificial intelligence by providing a premier platform for perspectives from the Global South, which have historically been underrepresented.
The journal invites rigorous, interdisciplinary analysis of the AI revolution across its social, technological, and ethical dimensions. We welcome frontier research submissions that explore AI through four key pillars: Foundations & Frontiers of AI Science; AI Engineering & Systems Innovation; AI Applications & Societal Impact; and AI Ecosystems, Governance & Ethics. An international editorial board, comprising approximately 70 renowned scholars from over 30 countries, upholds the journal’s academic rigor and global representativeness.
