IDEAS helps Xiamen Jimei and Sharjah, UAE to develop inter-regional industry-academia-research cooperation

On June 19, 2024, IDEAS, the National Cooperation Center of Jimei District and the Chairman of the Parliament of Sharjah Emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) held an online meeting to discuss the deepening of the cooperation between Jimei and Sharjah in the field of industry-university-research (IUR). Yu Xiao, head of  IDEAS, Lu Yang, Special Expert of IDEAS, Dr. Shameem Nawber, Head of Middle East/South Asia of IDEAS’ Policy Research Office, and colleagues from IDEAS’ External Cooperation Department attended the online meeting.
Yu Xiao introduced to President Belhaven IDEAS’ development plans and achievements in BRICS cooperation, artificial intelligence, green development, climate change, etc. President Belhaven appreciated IDEAS’ work and development direction, and believed that the current global challenges require cross-sectoral and institutional cooperation, as well as innovative solutions. He expressed his willingness to assist and support the work of IDEAS in the UAE. This is a continuation of a series of efforts to promote practical cooperation between industry, academia and research between the Jimei District of Xiamen and the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE.
