The IDEAS was invited to participate in the 2024 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

2024 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was held from June 5th to 8th. Yu Xiao, Head of IDEAS, and Mekhri, Executive Director of the Russian side of IDEAS, Vlad, Head of the Department of Transformation of Achievements, Inja, Head of the Department of Talent Cultivation, and Mirko Farina, Head of the Laboratory of Human-Computer Interaction were invited to participate in the forum, and the Policy Specialist, Yang Huiling, participated in the forum online.
IDEAS participated in a number of meetings and had in-depth exchanges with experts and scholars from various countries on topics such as the prospects for cooperation in the field of digital economy in BRICS countries, the development of economic and trade cooperation between China and Russia, how foundation cooperation can help the potential growth of BRICS countries, and the characteristics of transformation financing in BRICS countries.
IDEAS also negotiated with Russian and other technology companies to explore joint scientific research, realize the transformation of international scientific research results and expand the international trade market.

In response to the call for papers for the theme collection of “Sovereign Artificial Intelligence and Digital Sovereignty” under the journal AI and Innovation, and to ensure the academic depth and regional breadth of the final published content, Institute for Digital Economy and Artificial Systems (IDEAS-BRICS), Global South Academic Forum (GSAF), and Global South Insights (GSI) have jointly decided to launch a four-month series of offline and online seminars as the core supporting component for this theme collection. Call for Papers

This call for papers invites submissions for a Theme Collection on Sovereign AI and Digital Sovereignty, exploring challenges in achieving technological autonomy. Topics include open-source AI, digital trade agreements, and geopolitical shifts. Contributions from scholars across Africa, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Russia are welcome.
